03.11.2021 SLOVAK SUPERSTITION STORIES AND SLAVIC MYTHOLOGY

Presentation in the Jozef Kollár Gallery, 4.11.2021.

On November 4, 2021 at 5 pm, the Slovak Mining Museum – Jozef Kollár Gallery in Banská Štiavnica organized a presentation by the ethnologist Tatiana Bužeková entitled Slovak Superstition Stories and Slavic Mythology. It was an accompanying event to the exhibition of Jarmila Mitríková and Dávid Demjanovič: “Whispering Shadows, Blazing Flames, and the Green Oracle” in the Jozef Kollár Gallery.

The presentation was devoted to the interpretation of Slovak superstition narratives in relation to well-known motifs in Slavic mythology. The presenter supported the interpretation by the outcomes of her own ethnographic research in western Slovakia.

About the presenter:
doc. RNDr. Tatiana Buzekova, PhD. studied mathematics, religion and ethnology. She works at the Department of Ethnology and Museology, Faculty of Arts, Comenius University in Bratislava. Her research focuses mainly on the issues of religion, magic, emotions, memory, morality, cultural representations of the body, and popular culture. She is the author of the book “Enemy from Inside. Supernatural threat in human form” (2009) and the editor of the proceedings “Za horama, za vodú... folk tales from the village Závod” (2007).
